8 million accounts are blocked by Whatsapp

WhatsApp, the popular global instant messaging software, released its first monthly compliance report on Thursday. According to the study, during the 30-day period from May 15 to June 15, 2021, the firm blocked a total of 2 million Indian accounts in India.

During this time, it got a total of 345 reports.  The revised Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code, generally known as the IT Rules, are set to take effect in 2021. Around 8 million accounts are blocked each month by the platform around the world.

We’re keeping advanced tools on hand to spot accounts that send messages at very high rates. Between May 15 and June 15, 20 lakh accounts in India were blocked for attempting such misuse.”

“Our main focus is to prevent accounts from sending dangerous or undesired messages on a big scale,” Whatsapp stated in its report.
