‘I only commentate on cricket’, Why Michael Holding doesn’t do commentary in IPL
Known for his sharp and blunt commentary, former West Indies pace bowler Michael Holding is one of the legends when it comes to discussing cricket. Last year during the west indies tour of England Holding gave a mind-blowing speech against the whites and their racism that was broadcasted live on Sky Sports. The entire commentary was lauded by the cricket fraternity and even beyond.
Holding holds a string view against the T20 cricket and its effect on the West Indies cricket team s a whole. when asked about why he wasn’t a part of the popular tournament for T20 matches, ie Indian premier League, his answer seems to be very bold.
“The T20 tournaments are the bane of the game. When you are poor country and can’t afford to pay as England, and India, the players will go on to play T20. That’s where West Indies is, When you are earning 600,000 or 800,000 dollars for six weeks, what are you going to do? I don’t blame anyone. I blame the administrators. They give a lot of lip service to Test but all there intention is bringing in money into their cupboards… West Indies will win T20 tournaments which aren’t cricket” he added.
Surely he is the one who still believes in the supremacy of Test cricket and not mere T20 matches. For more updates on the recent cricket news, stay tuned to the latest news and posts of The Midget Herald.
