SAG Awards 2021: Chadwick Boseman wins posthumous best actor
“Black Panther” ‘s cast Chadwick Boseman has won the best actor award at SAG Awards 2021 for his character Levee Green from “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”
His wife Simone Boseman has received his posthumous award and thanked the whole cast and crew and then quoted his husband’s words, “If you see the world unbalanced, be a crusader that pushes heavily on the seesaw of the mind”.
The actor has died in August, 2020 after diagonising with colon cancer which started four years before. He has created a record being the first actor to achieve four screen Actors Guild award nomination in one year and all for motion pictures- his leading character in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, his supporting character in “Da 5 Bloods” and for his presence in both of the films.
The actor has won awards jointly with Jamie Foxx and Maggie Smith for most of the nominations in a single year with four nods.(Foxx achieved four nods in 2005 for his characters in Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story, Ray, and Collateral. Smith achieved her four nods in 2013 for her characters in Downton Abbey and The Best exotic Marigold Hotel).
While accepting his Golden Globe win this February, Boseman’s wife shared a speech of Boseman, “He would say something beautiful. Something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of us that tells us you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you were meant to be doing in this moment. I don’t have his words but we have to take all the moments to celebrate those we love”.
