Uncle Tone on Nadal: “He has failed more than he had to” against Novak Djokovic
Toni Nadal, who happens to be the uncle of Nadal think that his nephew Raphael Nadal has lost way to ahead that he is supposed to be from NOvac Djokovic in the current stage of his career. Till date both the great legends, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic has faced head to head for 58 times. This itself is a record in the history of tennis. However Nadal has lost 30 of these matches. Even this month in French Open, the Roland Garros semifinal.
Uncle Toni stated that the few injuries Nadal faced, made him a bit weak and acted as hurdles for Nadal’s career. But despite all these, he is still surprised the way his nephew . Nadal continues to play tennis so glamorously. He also discloses about his coaching philosophy and how Nadal always stay prepared for the worst case scenarios.
“My idea was to prepare him for difficulty,” Toni Nadal said. “I have never been a complacent coach with my nephew although he always believed things were going to be okay. Rafael chose to go as high as possible and I always reminded him that it was going to cost him dearly.”
